Kawaguchi lake is one of the five lake around Mount Fuji (Fuji-Go-Ko). The lavender flower paint the area around the lake into deep purple and fill the air with soft lavender fragrance.

Herb Festival

The Herb Festival at Kawaguchi Lake are divided into 2 areas, Yagizaki Park and Oishi Park.

I went to Yagizaki park first. The lavender and other flowers are blooming. There are cute wind chime display. The wind blow, making the wind chimes tinkle enthusiastically under the blue sky. They also offering special lavender flavored ice cream, wow! As you can see in the picture below, not only lavender, there hydrangea flower also blooming at Yagizaki park.

Next I went to the second venue at Oishi Park. This place is calmer than  Yagizaki Park so you can relax here and enjoy the fresh air and nature scenery. Its your choice though, which kind of place you prefer :) Here is a photo from  flower wall. Very beautiful, isn’t it? You can enjoy relaxing time here, enjoying a cup of drink from the cafe while gazing to the beauty of Kawaguchi lake and Mount Fuji, of course! (Sometimes the sky is cloudy so be careful, I couldn’t see Mount Fuji too when I went there…)

Souvenir and Shops

Both venue opens for herb festival and there are various shops and souvenir there.

These are the pictures from Yagizaki park. Some stall sell craft works, like Mount Fuji miniature, wood craft, fan, accessories, etc. There were also many lavender and purple themed goods, such as lavender perfume or bath salt, purple handkerchief, umbrella, etc. There are also many local veggies and sweets! There are a stage set up at Yagizaki venue, too bad the day I went there is not the performance time yet.

Next venue, Oishi park pictures. Not as big as Yagizaki park but still offers many interesting things. The shop over there sell many plant seedling for you who loves gardening! Many Mount Fuji related goods like postcards, bags, etc. Also many sweets and delicious local blueberries! I bought a cute Mount Fuji 3D glass miniature here ♥
