Hakone Venetian Glass Museum (Glass no Mori) boasts a collection of more than 100 colourful and elaborate Venetian glass. It also has a Modern Glass Museum and a shop which sold all kinds of glass items.

First, let’s have a look at the museum grounds.

To the left is the Venetian Glass Museum, housed in a Venetian-style building. In the middle of the pond is Palazzo Ducale Chandelier. The crystal glass arch to the right is corridor of light “Corridoio”.

There were several such trees decorated with crystal glass. How beautiful.

Crossing the corridor of light will take one to the very first stop, the Venetian Glass Museum.

This Venetian glass chandelier was hands down the most beautiful chandelier I have ever laid my eyes upon.

Venetian glass fine art.

The third floor had exhibition of some modern glass art.

This common sense-defying “Glass with delicate stem” was made by Giuseppe Barovier.

A short corridor separated the Venetian Glass Museum and the Modern Glass Museum and museum shop.

The Modern Glass featured two artists heavily. The left photo shows a work of Livio Seguso. The right photo shows works of Dale Chihuly.

The museum shop had Venetian glass, crystal glass, accessory, tableware, ornaments, spanning across three floors. The stuff here were… not cheap. Plenty of goods in the six-digit range here, and a few in the seven-digit range.

There were two workshops here you could try. A glass accessory handicraft workshop and a sandblasting workshop.

“Acero”, an old building which looked like it had melded with nature, was actually a souvenir shop that sold jams.

And that about sums up what the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum had to offer. I have to admit that I had never even heard of Venetian glass before this visit, and it was really eye-opening. It was worth visiting just to get to know this beautiful art form.
