“The day of Nekosai” will be held on April, May and September

After praying for safe of the fishing, and having given thanks to the sea in celebration of a big catch, serve fresh fish around charcoal fire in the open space of the port.
This is a local simple event, after praying for the safe of the sea, charbroiled fresh fish are served.
All visitors of Kitakawa Onsen are free to participate.

“Nekosai” is “a fixed shore net” in a local dialect. When write it in kanji is “根拵網 (Nekosaiami).” “The root” points at the reef of the bottom of the sea, and (make) “making” means that I construct a thing. It is a figure “net” “only in the bottom of the sea”. “I made it,” but a dialect became ” こさいる to make” and was made abbreviation more and came to be called “ねこさい”.
