The Kenban (Geisha Agency)

The Kenban served as the office of Hakone-Yumoto Geino Kumiai (Hakone-Yumoto Entertainment Association), where it is the place Geisha practice traditional songs and dances everyday.

The entrance of Kenban

■”Hakone Odori”

For once every year, Geisha performs the dance called “Hakone Odori” at the hall of Kenban to show the results of their daily hard practice. There are also various seasonal events are held here. For more details, please visit the website.

■House Makeover

The House of the Kenban had a makeover on TV Asahi’s “Biggest Makeover! The Extreme Before and After” show.
The stage had been moved to the first floor, and now the the practice of Geisha can be viewed while passing by on the road.
※Only at the time of a public practice. For detailed date and time, please inquiry beforehand.

■The stage and the seat

The stage was designed according to the image of Yosegizaiku, ornamented with the gorgeous curtains which is made of the Obi (the sash) of the Geisha using a typical design pattern of Hakone. There are seats made of Tatami for viewers when watch a performance on the stage, which is very comfortable to sit.

■Footbath

You can take a short break at here by taking a foot bath using a clean and comfortable wooden bucket.
※It is available only at the time of an event. Please inquiry beforehand.
