Kabocha (Pumpkin) Museum

Private collection of works of world-famous artist “Yayoi Kusama”, whose work features pumpkins. Thereis a cafe space, too.

[Yayoi Kusama] a Nagano-born painter, vanguard sculptor, novelist. Began to draw provoked by the illusion and moved to the United States in 1957, stayed in New York for 18 years. 1993 Venice Biennale representative from Japan. After retrospective show around the United States, large-scale of private exhibition was held at Tokyo Museum of Modern Art in1999. Winning 2001 Asahi prize, Yokohama Triennale exhibition.

Closed closed : Art Museum / Tuesdays (open on holiday and close next day as a compensatory day off) , cafe / closed on Tuesday
Opening hours 9:30 a.m. – 17:00 p.m.
Fees 900 yen for general, , 300 yen for smaller than secondary school children (common ticket for both halls)
Parking lot Available (Free)

Getting there Bus for Oku-Yugawara or the Fudo-taki fall, get off at “shougakkoumae” (elementary school ) It is a 5-minute walk from the bus tstage (seat-load time around five minutes)
