Egawatei

The Egawatei (Egawa House) is a designated Important Culture Property of Japan, it is located within the designated historical site Nirayama Yakusho.

The main building of the property is a large building constructed using a method called Single Layered Main Building Structure. The wood structures used in the attic of the building is constructed using a geometric structure called “Koyakumi Zukuri”, it is an old time earth quick prevention structure used in the past. The floor of the building used a pavement called Tataki, there is a pillar in the house use nature tree trunk which is called Ikibashira. The property has never broken out a file, there are many exhibitions in the house.

The Egawa clan was a 42th decedent of Yamatogenji clan which lasted for more than 900 years. The Egawa clan lasted for 273 years in Edo era, counted for 11 generations, it also served as the local magistrate of Izu. During the administrating period of the Egawa clan, there had never been a peasant uprising due to the popular maintain security and civil affairs. The 36th generation of Egawa clan is a magistrate with integrity, he commanded many construction works including Nirayama Reverberatory Funace and the make of bread, etc. There is a Monument of bread founder in the house.

– From Numazu IC for 30 minutes
■ By train
– Get off at Mishima Station of Tokaido Shinkansen Line
– Get off at Nirayama Station of Izu-Hakone-Tetsudo Line (Mishima to Nirayama for about 20 minutes)

    これは酷い翻訳ミスです!Edogawateiではなく、Egawatei だろうが?!?!
    This is a terrible mistranslation. It should be Egawatei, not Edogawatei!!!
