It’s about mid-winter right now but I went to see cherry blossoms for the first time in my life!

Even though it was said that cherry blossoms was a harbinger of Spring, that actually only refers to certain types of cherry blossoms. For example, in Tokyo and most parts of Japan, “cherry blossoms” refer to “Yoshino cherry”. This is the most well-known sakura by locals and foreigners. They bloom in March or April. However, in Okinawa, “cherry blossoms” refer to “Taiwan cherry”. Unlike Yoshino cherry, they bloom in late January to early February. “Kanzakura”, which I went to check out also bloom fully by late January.

The Izu Shiki no Hana Park was a flower park with much more than just cherry blossoms, and I took photos of them all. Also, this will be an article with many pictures and few words. Enjoy!

For those who would like to go cherry blossoms viewing in Winter, do give this park a try!
