When Japan and Korea summit meeting with Prime Minister Mori and President at the time Kim Dae-jung was performed in Atami in (2000)9 month in 2000, we visited Atami Umezono and took a walk through the garden and were talked pleasantly and prayed for Korean garden when Japan and Korean friendship and world peace continued in commemoration of having deepened bond of Japan-Korea friendship forever and maintained garden which took in tradition style and technique in the Korea times.

Ties of nature scenery are made carefully without Korean garden being space limited like garden of Japan, and taking style to conclude and say with “inner court” between the garden sky, and space is comprised as “open ground” between the outside sky supporting it.

The whole Korean garden is Korean Old architecture expert: It was built directly by the cause of the yasu*ko (Ann sunho) he supervision, hand of person concerned with construction in Korea.
“Temple” “Daimon” “wall tiles” use Korean materials.

In garden, there is person of person Pond Japanese yen island, flower floor, smoke, friendship peace monument, fountain, chantotte, temple, Daimon, gems and stones tension earthen wall, tile tension earthen wall, hohikoshikinenhi.

Person Pond Japanese yen island

Person Pond expresses shade in quadrangular “pond”, and Japanese yen island is circular island, and “the sky” expresses positive. In garden using water, it is almost technique adopting.

Flower floor

Stepped flower bed to build in slope place of north side of main building. We plant familiar plant and use plants such as medical herb, fruit having sense of the seasons as garden of love of noble woman person.

Person of smoke

In chimney of Korean stove (floor heater facility), it is called itself “house of smoke” by the shape. There is thing which drew plants which symbolized longevity on wall surface and generally is installed in flower floor among them.

Friendship peace monument

Japan-Korea summit meeting was held in Atami on September 23, 2000, and the two countries leaders visited Atami Umezono on 24th, the following day. Monument was installed in commemoration of this talk that deepened Japan-Korea bond. Carved character of monument is handwriting of Prime Minister Mori and President Kim.

Fountain

Water is treated carefully in Korean garden particularly design is concentrated in spout department of water. Form has many things which expressed “Yin and Yang thought”.

chantotte

At place to put pots such as miso, soy sauce, pickle, it is made in back garden near kitchen. We are considered that size of scale expresses power of a family and are seen at current standard home.

Temple

We retire from the world than common customs and chant poetry in mountains and are building which we made as life space of scholar loving philosophy. It is small scale, but there are kitchen (room of woman) and room of servant, too and comes to be able to live all lives throughout the year. Style of building is style that kept style of initial (the 16th century) particularly unusual one character form in southern Korean Peninsula for Korea Era. A sense of unity with nature is felt in opening-like room where every direction called circle does not have wall.

Daimon

Because there was in the front of “friendship, peace” monument with style of four gates of the middle of Korea Era, it was high and did formality with big building. Cloud in the upper part of beam-shaped “cloud board” expressed that spirituality of the master reached high level like loud musical accompaniment. In addition, design carved by retainer (the origin) of pillar of entrance part expressed constitution principle of space of “the sky, the ground, person” called sitting up and begging pole.

Gems and stones tension earthen wall

Wall of earth wall, wall using gems and stones and tile are seen in traditional wall of Korea Era from thing with native rock. Gems and stones tension earthen wall orders roof tile of wall from Korea at wall worked with gems and stones.

Tile tension earthen wall

Tile tension earthen wall does the lower part in gems and stones tension at wall worked with tile. We order roof tile of wall from Korea.

hohikoshikinenhi

Woman pilot first on August 7, 1933 in Korea: We crashed into the Kurodake hillside, and houyamaigen (pakukyonuon) died in crash with 33-year-old youth in the middle of visit flight to Korea which was hometown. We installed in commemoration of friendship born through this miserable accident and activity with local people. Carved character of monument is handwriting of Prime Minister Mori and President Kim.
