Lake Ippeki-ko

Lake Ippeki-ko is a gourd-shaped beautiful lake called “eyes of Izu.”

It takes 30 to 40 minutes walk around the lake on a promenade at the lakeside. There was a open space contains tables and benches alongside the promenade where you can enjoy the cherry flowers and scenery of the lake.

There is a signboard at the lakeside explains the total length around the lake is 4 kilometers, I think this may be the total length including Lake Ippeki-ko and the moor area.

Later I noticed that there is a free parking lot alongside the road between Lake Ippeki-ko and the moor area after passing the bridge down at the Y-shaped road near Ito Museum of Art. Restrooms are available to use.

Instead of this free parking lot, I parked my car at a toll parking lot at the place of boat renting facility. A staff at the shop told me that it usually takes 40 minutes for a round-trip of the lake, but the staff also tickled me by saying that “you will only need 30 minutes to finish the trip.” Greatly encouraged by his comments, I made my walk around the lake.

I was able to take a slow and enjoyable walk alongside the lake to have myself refreshed while watching the beautiful natural scenery.
