MOA Art Museum will hold “a New Year Lion Dance” to hcelebrate New Year on January 2 (Thu) and 3 (Fri) , 2014.

Presenter is Seki ancient rite musical accompaniment preservation party. Party belongs the Kanda musical accompaniment and performed around the Kanagawa area since the early days of the Meiji Era, and it preserve the traditional musical accompaniment and Lion dance and passing them on to next generations. This preservation society authorized by Yokohama City Formlessness folk Cultural Assets.

Anyone who visit MOA Art Museum ibn the day of performance can appreciate the show free of charge.

Please enjoy a traditional musical accompaniment performance in a noh stage.

● Hiroshige “fifty-three stages of the Tokaido”

1st Jan. (holiday/Wed.) 2014 to January 29 (Wed.) 2014

As a special New Year event, MOA displays all 55 pieces of series work which has brought the author into prominence who is the illustrator of latter half of Edo named Hiroshige Utagawa. “Hoeidou Edition fifty-three stages of the Tokaido” will be displayed, which established the world of rich scenery of the lyricism of Japan. In additon, exhibition lines up book version and partially the demotic semi-square style of Chinese handwriting version.

Also, the artworks of seasons such as a “plum” “cherry tree” from series “Edo famous place 100 views” by Hiroshige.

● An exhibision of national treasure, screen of “Kouhakubaizu (figure of red-white plum trees)” and other masterpieces

from Jan 31 (Fri.) to Mar12 (Wed) 2014

Mainly on painter Kourin Ogata’s 「紅白梅図屏風」 “figure of red-and-white plum screen” which is considered to be the masterpiece of “Rinpa School”, and 「色絵藤花文茶壺」” picture tea pot of lilac”.by Jinsei Nonomura, 「翰墨城」”poetry castle”. All of three national treasure that MOA possesses will be shown at once. In addition, an important cultural asset 「高士観月図」”figure of Noble moon-viewing” , 「佐竹本三十六歌仙切　平兼盛像」”Tairano Kanemori figure, Satake Edition thirty-six-saint poets” by Baen which is other museum possessions will be displayed.
