Nue-barai Festival on January 28, 2014!

Stay at Izu Nagaoka Onsen and exorcise evil spirits! This year’s Nue Festival is coming!
There is a ancient tale about General Yorimasa Minamotono exterminated the Nue (An imaginary ancient monster with monkey’s head, tiger’s body, and snake’s tail). In order to commemorating this traditional event, people start to held this festival, and by this year, it has been the 48th festival. The Nue dance performed by the local junior high students have become a tradition for each year. One grown-up size Nue, two middle-size Nues, and four small-size Nues are taking part in this must-see performance, looks half cute and half ferocious. It is a festival full of unique charms.
You can also watch Japanese art of archery demonstration performed by the well-known archerers.
This year, the delightful Nue parade will be held at Yurakkusu park! Please come and enjoy it.
Date and time Tuesday, January 28, 2014 start from 15:00
Place: Yurakkusu park special event space
Contents:
◎Demonstration of the Japanese archery by the famous archerer.
◎Nue dance
◎The bean-scattering ceremony to bring fortune
◎Dance by geisha people
※Food stand and “Nue-no-Hamafuda” sale by the branch, Izunokuni-shi business and industry society youth group.
※In case it is rain, The “Nue dance”, “Geisha’s dance” and “the bean-scattering ceremony” will be hold at the 3rd floor of Nagaoka Government building. Start from 15:00.

■Please make your donation to help repairing the clothes used at Nue-barai Festival.
The costumes wearing at Nue-barai Festival by the junior high school students have been used for half century, we are now making a fund raising campaign to collect money for repairing these costumes. For details of how you can take part in this campaign, please refer to the back side of the flyer.
