The 44th Odawara Plum Festival

Soga Plum Forest is the main venue of “the Odawara Plum Festival”, this forest is formed by three plum groves, Bessho, Hara and Nakagawara, these places were once the hometown of the famous brothers of Soga known for their revenge stories. There are white plum blossoms as well as the red ones and plums blossoms in weeping forms, the flowers can be enjoyed through out the whole town.
Backed by Mount Fuji and the mountains of Hakone, approximately 35,000 plums are in full glory, and Mount Fuji viewed from this distant has been chosen as the “100 best view of Mt. Fuji at Kanto Area.” During the Plum Festival, there will be various event such as Yabusame, splash horseback archery (thicket shark), Odawara lantern dance and Kotobuki lion dance, and seed scattering event.
There are shops at each event place, you can buy pickled plum Oden, dried plums (specially made product), plum wine, plum jam at the shops. Approximately 250 plums are planted in the Odawara castle park, and the figure blooming backed by the castle tower and a castle gate is very tasteful. It is the popular place to take pictures. In addition, you can enjoy the floral art of the pretty plum in Odawara flower garden, the Tsujimura plant park.
