On the Genji Ayame Festival in Izunokuni City, a parade, stage performance by geishas, music shows, a parade of festival car (portable shrine) and street dance performance by local team, fireworks display are taken place. In this year a newly composed folksong “Izunokuni Ondo leading” premier is going to be performed.
Ayame is a name of a beautiful highup who was born in Izunokuni, she lived in the Heian era, approx. 800 years ago, but lived in obscurity. Festival theme is the tragic love of ancient times.
