Lake Ippeki-ko

I passed Lake Ippeki-ko on the way back to Ito Station from Mount Omuro by Tokai bus. I decided to drop by because I came far and got off the bus.

Lake Ippeki-ko is a crater lake made of the eruption of 100,000 years ago and is called “An eye of Izu”
It is a quiet lake now, but its background is a series of intense events.

Because it was raining, I guess there is different kind of charm from clear days.
Probably because of rain, lakeside trees seems lively and feel the green more vividly.
There is more to enjoy! It is a place loved by persons of literature Mr. and Mrs.Tekkan Yosano, Akiko here. There is a monument inscribed with a tanka poem of the Yosano couple on the shore.
If I have a talent for the literature, I would write a better sentence to praise Lake Ippeki-ko.

There is a promenade on the circumference of the lake and you can go around for 30 to 40 minutes. I have gone walking there without thinking, but it was quite tough.
There were few tourists around, and moreover, the rain, I was the only one going for walking the dark promenade alone.
Besides, there are many insects because it is damp. Because I was on a skirt I was bitten badly.
(‘A `.)
Still it is not so bad because I thoroughly enjoyed a slight adventure feeling.

I saw Shinto shrine and red Torii gateway on the mid way when I walked the promenade. Here is a legend.
Once upon a time when Lake Ippeki-ko was still called Big Lake there was an inhabitants called “red cow” and it attacked people passing by. An holy priest exocisted this red cow in exchange for his life. Therefore, there are shinto shield like shrine and a torii gate.

I found a red carp and a golden carp! The particularly golden carp is considered to be a fish causing luck with money and fortune luck.
Should really invite luck with money O (≧∇≦) O

In Spring, cherry tree blooms along the shore, and colored leaves cover the shore in Autumn.
I want to come here once again in autumn season.
I’ll introduce Lake Ippeki-ko in last spring here. Here is the report my co-worker wrote on.
