Nirayama Furukawa’s Fireflies

Come here to watch wild fireflies.

Furukawa River area is the earliest place among Izu peninsular to watch fireflies every year. Furukawa River flows through Izunokuni City, its bank areas are the earliest one to welcome wild fireflies every year.

Furukawa river is a limpid stream flows through the city. It is a natural habitat for wild fireflies. From mid-May to mid-June each year, the charming dim lights of fireflies enjoyed by many tourists.

Getting there – By car
From Numazu IC of Tomei Expressway, drive via Route 1 and Route 136 for 40 minutes. Izunagaoka
After passed the intersection (Nanjo) in front of the station, turn right at the traffic light. Drive according to the direction on the board.

– By train and bus
Take a Shinkansen train to Mishima Station, from there change to Izu-Hakone-Tetsudo Line for 20 miniutes. Izu
nagaoka get off, take a taxi. (walk for 30 minutes.)
