Odawara Flower Garden opened in 1995. Garden is divided into several sections. Except of main facility called “tropical dome greenhouse” there are approximately 200 kinds of plum trees and seasonal flower including ‘rose garden’ spreading out around Arcadia open space. The main target of my visit in Flower Garden was Rose Festival, held every year from 22 October to 23 November.

At firt, I came to the greenhouse, that is a big, round construction, built just near the entry. When I came in, I had to take off my coat immediately, because it was very hot inside. In the greenhouse there are about 300 kinds of subtropical plants and you can feel there like in a lush tropical rainforest. Besides many kinds of plants and high palm trees, there are several fish tanks in the dark tunel, where you can drop in for a moment. Also, when you go upstairs, you get to the platforms, from where you can admire the view of all the plants. Inside, there is very high level of humidity and specific smell. Probably it’s because of the streams and small waterfall, that are needed to keep this climate. I saw there many plants and flowers, that I haven’t seen before in my entire life. The most interesting were kind of hairy and purple, hanging down plants. Probably it’s not possible, but one day I would really like to have one of them at home!

In the outside part of garden there are many roads among plum trees and places to sit and rest. Most of the leafs fell down, because it’s late autumn, but I’m sure, that during the spring these trees are adorable. After short walking, I got to the big pond, where there were many swimming koy carps. They come close to the shore, that you can easily watch them from the observatory decks. Carps are big attraction for tourists, because they have big, original orange stains, as you can see in the picture.

At the end, I came to see the most impressive part of garden. I haven’t ever seen so many blooming flowers in the same place! 345 bushes include about 145 various kinds of roses. It’s really incredible view! Except of the most popular red roses, there are pink, yellow and peach roses as well. Roses are grown around the big construction called ‘Arcadia’, that makes the view really spectacular. Obviously, roses in a flower shop smell really great, but in the Flower Garden I realized that flower, that still grown in the ground have much stronger and sweeter smell.
