Yugawara is a famous area with great history and tradition. It is a hot spring district well known among Japanese writer, politician, and businessman. Located at the westernmost of Kanagawa prefecture. In the city there are Chitose River and Fujiki River, along with the river stream there are many ryokan (Japanese style hotel) lining up. The moment you enter the area, you will feel the traditional traces from Shōwa period.

Furthermore, if you continue your journey you will reach the Oku-Yugawara. In this place, the wind that blows from Hakone and Sagami bay make the climate warm and the difference between hot and cold temperature in this area very high. You can go to Yugawara from Tōkyō station with JR train by Tōkaidō line around 90 minutes. On your way to Yugawara, you will passed the Ooiso, that located near the coastline and you will get a sparkling view of the Sagami bay. From Yugawara station to the onsen machi or hot spring district, take either Hakone Tozan bus or Izu Hakone bus, very convenient. Tourist who want to go to until Moto-Hakone can also take the bus, just watch the time table closely as the service time for Moto-Hakone are still scarce. With this in mind, you can plan enjoyable trip not only in Yugawara, but you can continue until Hakone too!
