Shitodo-no Iwaya, Shitodo Cave

In 1180, General Yoritomo Minamoto reunited his troop to beat Heike and revive Genji, but lost a battle at Mt. Ishibashi and retreated to the cave which is led by Captain Sanehira Dohi. A running spring, the rock covered with moss. It is quite an fairyland which stays cool in the summer season, lined with Kannon statues of goddess and stone pagodas and called “Doi Sugiyama Kannon sculptured group”.
