The flowering situation of Atami Plum Festival

The 70th Atami Plum Festival is scheduled to hold from Saturday, January 11 to Sunday, March 9, 2014.
The Atami Plum Festival was opened at 1886, it is well know as the earliest plum blooming garden in Japan with the first plum flower to be blossom during the late November to early December ever year.
The first blossom of this year had been confirmed on November 8th. It is the earliest blossom date comparing to the past couple years.
58 varieties of different plum trees including long-lived trees with age of more than hundred years. 473 plum trees are in blossom in an order of early blooming, the middle blooming, and the late blooming, therefore the plum flowers can be fully enjoyed throughout the whole season of the festival.

Among all 473 trees, there are 63 trees are in blossom. The Toushi-Bai plum, the Yaeno-Bai plum, the Koutoushi plum and the Yaekankou plum are start to bloom.
In addition, it is not the kind of the plum, but please enjoy it in total because the narcissus of a yellow Chimonanthus praecox (Japanese allspice) of the sleeve and the river-side garden of the central open space, positive in the garden, the footbath depths cherry tree flower.

During the festival, there will be events such as geisha consecutive entertainment show and outdoor tea ceremony tea party, the sweet alcoholic drink made from sake lees free service during a plum Festival period and wait for the visiting of all of you.
