Kibune Festival

A traditional festival which has been registered as an Important Intangible Folk Culture Asset of Japan.
The festival is one of the three well-known ship festival of Japan. Many tourists visits the festival from within or outside the prefecture each year.
The festival brings braveness and gorgeousness as well as relic of the ancient time festival to its spectators.

The origin of Kibune Shrine and Ship Festival
Kibune Shrine was once called Kinomiyadaimyoujin before the Meiji era, it is said to be an Imakinogkami (a foreign god) which has same roots with Kinomiya, the popular god at Sagami and Izukaigan Area. The Jinushigami (a local god) of Manazuru was said to be Ichikuramyojin which is also currently worshiped in Kibune Shrine.
